Leigh Spann

Leigh Spann joined WFLA in September, 2007 as the Weekend Morning Meteorologist. She came here from our sister station, WCBD, in Charleston, SC where she was the morning and noon meteorologist. While at WCBD, she received the Award of Merit for South Carolina Weathercaster of the Year. Leigh has also worked at WMAZ in Macon, GA.

Leigh graduated from the University of Georgia with a BS in Geography and a certificate of Atmospheric Science. She graduated Magna Cum Laude and was one of the first people at UGA to graduate with the Atmospheric Science certificate.

While living in Charleston, Leigh worked during several hurricanes and tropical storms that made landfall along the South Carolina coast. Leigh holds the American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval as well as the National Weather Association Broadcast Seal of Approval.

Leigh lives in Tampa with her husband and their Yorkshire terrier, Baxter, and dachshund, Emily.
