Mark Douglas

Mark Douglas works as an investigative reporter for WFLA News Channel 8. He's been covering and uncovering stories for (11) years in the Pinellas County Bureau.

During that time Mark's reporting has exposed consumer fraud, triggered judicial reforms, revealed government waste and corruption, and helped to bring (a number of ) criminals to justice.

His career in journalism spans more than 30 years. By the time he joined WFLA-TV Mark had already spent 12 years in the Tampa Bay area as a Senior TV Reporter and Bureau Chief , and had worked in a variety of other television and radio positions following his graduation from college.

Numerous broadcast and print journalism awards have honored his work. That award-winning work has also been published in national investigative journals, and he has more than 60 byline stories published in The Tampa Tribune, including a number of front page exclusives. Mark also reports and contributes online news content to TBO.com.

Mark teaches an advanced broadcast writing course for students at The University of Tampa where he has served as an adjunct faculty member since 1997. His passion for professional development has brought him recognition as a guest speaker at national journalism forums, regional seminars, and various universities.

He is Past President of the Mid-Florida Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists and a longtime member of Investigative Reporters and Editors.

He earned a Master's Degree from University of Missouri School of Journalism and graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mass Communications from Florida State University.

Mark is an active member of his Lutheran church and lives in Clearwater with his wife and two children. He enjoys boating, cycling, camping and other outdoor activities with his family. Mark is a licensed private pilot and an accomplished sailor.
