Katie Coronado
Katie Coronado co-anchors “News Channel 8 at 10pm on My TV 38” with Peter Bernard Monday through Friday from 10-10:30pm. She also anchors daily web casts on centrotampa.com to help keep the Spanish-speaking community informed.
Some of the stories she’s covered for News Channel 8 include topics of citizenship and immigration, USF’s Upward Bound program for low income children and Saint Leo University's trip to Cuba.
Before coming to News Channel 8, Katie worked at WESH TV in Orlando as a writer producer, where she was instrumental in the station’s outreach to the Hispanic community, especially in providing bilingual coverage during hurricane Charlie.
She started her career as a reporter/ producer for the Telemundo affiliate in Orlando. She also worked in Miami where she wrote and produced for the Spanish language television network.
A graduate of the University of Central Florida, Katie holds a B.A. degree in broadcasting. She also holds a M.A. in corporate communications from Rollins College.
Recently her work received an honorable mention form the society of professional journalists (New America Award)
Katie and her husband enjoy going to the beach and traveling around the country.
