Peter Bernard

Peter Bernard co-anchors “News Channel 8 at 10pm on My TV 38”, along with Katie Coronado, week nights.

Peter joined News Channel 8 in August of 2002. Prior to coming aboard, Bernard was already working in Tampa as a reporter and fill-in weatherman. Bernard has more than 25 years experience in television news and has worked in St. Louis, MO, Albany, NY, and Pocatello, ID.

You might see him flying over Pinellas County, where he lives with his wife and two children. As a licensed pilot, he often takes a member of his family with him into the wild blue yonder in a Cessna 152. In addition to flying, he enjoys learning about new technology. Peter and his family enjoy traveling, eating out, and Florida's warm weather.

Bernard has even filled in for our Storm Team members a few times! He holds a certificate in Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University and has a goal of resuming duties in the weather department. Stay tuned!

As a general assignment reporter, Peter particularly enjoys doing stories that effect change, such as stories that expose wrongdoing, corruption, scams or rip-offs. He also enjoys preparing reports that help people who are not getting a fair deal.
