HOUSTON (AP) — A person with direct knowledge of the deal has told The Associated Press that Denver has agreed to send point guard Ty Lawson to the Houston Rockets. The Nuggets will get a lottery protected first-round pick in 2016 along with Nick Johnson, Kostas Papanikolaou, Pablo Prigioni and Joey Dorsey in the deal that also sends a future second-round pick to Houston.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Nashville Predators have avoided arbitration with Craig Smith by signing the forward to a $21.25 million, five-year contract. The 25-year old has scored at least 20 goals in two straight seasons and is considered a critical cog in the Predators future.
GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — The Arizona Coyotes have announced the signing of two players. Defenseman Klas Dahlbeck is getting a one-year, two-way contract while forward Jordan Martinook inked a two-year, two-way deal. Dahlbeck had a goal and three assists in 23 games last season with the Coyotes and Chicago Blackhawks, while Martinook had an assist in eight games with the Coyotes.
ATLANTA (AP) — The Los Angeles Dodgers have placed catcher A.J. Ellis on the 15-day disabled list with right knee inflammation. The Dodgers recalled rookie catcher Austin Barnes from Triple-A Oklahoma City and he is starting tonight against Atlanta.
