Tampa area trooper saves man from burning car

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — The Florida Highway Patrol says a Tampa Bay area trooper rescued an unconscious man from a burning vehicle by breaking the car window and pulling him out.

Trooper Robert Duckers responded to crash Monday evening crash and found Michael Lamar Brewer inside the vehicle, which had crashed against several trees along the highway.

Both men were taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg. Troopers say Duckers had injuries to his hand and arm. He was treated and released. Brewer remains at the hospital but his condition was not immediately available.

Troopers say Brewer is charged with careless driving, driving without a license, and not wearing a seatbelt.
