Miami airport on pace to set record number of travelers

MIAMI (AP) — Miami International Airport is on pace to set a new record for number of travelers.

Airport officials say passenger traffic through the first half of 2015 is up more than 5 percent compared to the same time last year. The total number of people who traveled through MIA last year is 40.9 million.

Domestic travelers for the first six months of this year jumped more than 7 percent to 11.5 million, while international traffic increased about 4 percent to 10.4 million.

The Miami Herald (http://goo.gl/ZTgBnx ) reports that new flights during the second quarter helped boost traffic, including international service to Frankfurt and Manchester.
