LAKELAND, Fla. (WFLA) – Lakeland police are investigating a fatal crash that damaged a power pole Sunday morning.
The crash happened at 1500 East Memorial Boulevard.
A 1999 Chevrolet Express van was traveling eastbound in the outside lane.
The vehicle left its lane and hit the raised curb on the south side of the road and began rotating.
It hit the pole and spun around, separating from the pole and coming to rest.
The pole broke into two pieces.
The road was shut down for about six hours, but has since reopened.
The driver of the car has been identified as Reginald Morgan, 55, of Lakeland.
Lakeland police said Morgan died on scene.
