Man fires gun at couple during argument outside YMCA in St. Pete

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) – An argument in the parking lot of a YMCA in St. Petersburg ended with one man in the hospital and the other under arrest.

Police were called to a shooting in the parking lot of the YMCA on 1st Avenue around 6 p.m.

According to St. Petersburg police, Phelan Brown, 25, got into an argument with a couple he knew.

Police say Brown had a previously relationship with Chaunice White, 24, and argued with her and Gregg Johnson, 25.

Brown fired a shot at the car White was in, but missed her.

He fired another shot Johnson and grazed him.

Johnson and Brown struggled until police arrived and placed Brown under arreste.d

Johnson’s injury is non-life threatening.
