Crews rescue deer stuck on ice

SIMSBURY, CT (WCMH) — A small deer was rescued from thin ice along the Farmington River, in Connecticut, on Monday after being trapped there for several hours.

According to officers in the area, the deer was at one point in the water, before making it to solid ice, NBC Connecticut reported. 

Animal rescue officials tried throwing sand, dirt and blankets to help provide the deer traction before succeeding in pulling the deer to land. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
