Virginia Beach Officer rescues injured owl from traffic

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – Officer Morgan with the Virginia Beach Police Department was flagged down by a citizen on Virginia Beach Boulevard Sunday morning.

The citizen led Officer Morgan to an injured red screech-owl that was in danger of being hit by cars driving by.

Morgan emptied his file box and placed the owl inside in order to take it to Animal Control. It appears the owl may have a broken toe from most likely being hit by a car, according to a Virginia Beach Animal Control rehabber.

The owl will be closely monitored and cared for in the hopes it will eventually be released back into the wild.
