I-75 reopens in Manatee County after overturned tanker crash

MANATEE COUNTY, FL (WFLA) — All lanes of I-75 in Manatee County were reopened near mile markers 213 and 217, following a crash involving an overturned tanker truck.

The southbound lanes reopened just before 9 a.m. after crews cleaned up the scene.

Investigators said a car traveling in the middle lane of the highway collided with another vehicle while attempting to merge into the lane. One of the vehicles spun out of control and struck the tanker that was traveling in the right southbound lane. The tanker, of C &C Transport, then overturned onto its left side.

Officials said about 500 gallons of fuel spilled on the roadway late Monday night.

Two people, including the tanker truck driver, were taken to the hospital with injuries. Neither of their injuries appears to be life-threatening.
