ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) – A 16-year-old is charged with the sexual battery of a 14-year-old. Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office detectives said the incident occurred Wednesday, Dec. 7 at Lealman Innovation Academy, located at 10750 Ulmerton Road in Largo.

The victim told friends what had happened, triggering the investigation, detectives said.

“Detectives say at about 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 7, 2016, school was in session when the victim encountered the suspect … in the hallway of the Lealman Innovation Academy. (The suspect) asked the victim to go into an unoccupied classroom with him and she refused. (He) used physical force to pull the victim into the empty classroom against her will, where he sexually battered her,” a Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson said.

Detectives arrested the suspect Monday after an interview. The suspect is charged with one county of sexual battery. He was taken to the Pinellas Juvenile Assessment Center.
