LAKELAND, Fl. (WFLA) – A 36-year-old Polk County man was killed Sunday morning following a two-vehicle crash in Lakeland.

Jason Douglas Faircloth was transported to Lakeland Regional Medical Center just before noon where he later died.

According to a Lakeland Police Department report the incident occurred at 11:30 am at the intersection of Drane Field Rd. and Air Park Dr. Investigators say Faircloth was approaching the intersection on his 2012 Harley Davidson motorcycle when a 2002 Mack Semi-Truck pulled out in front of him.

Faircloth was unable to stop and the vehicles collided. The truck driver, 43-year-old Dennis Allen Coppins, was attempting to turn south onto Air Park Dr. and claims he did not see the motorcycle.

Emergency responders with the Lakeland Fire Department and Polk County Fire Rescue both attempted life-saving measures as the prepared Faircloth for transport. The roadway was closed for almost five hours as investigators collected evidence and spoke to witnesses.

Coppins was not hurt. No charges have been filed as the investigation continues. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
