OLDSMAR, Fla. (WFLA) – A woman was arrested for driving under the influence on Wednesday after she crashed into a Pinellas County deputy’s marked cruiser during a crash investigation.
The Pinellas County Sheriff’s office said the crash happened at 7:30 p.m. on Tampa Road.
According to investigators, a deputy arrived to the scene of a three-vehicle crash and parked his cruiser, with emergency lights on, to shield the vehicles from oncoming traffic.
The deputy was out of his cruiser investigating the crash when a car traveling north on Tampa Road crashed into the rear of his cruiser.
The impact pushed the cruiser into two other unoccupied vehicles involved in the original crash.
The driver was identified as Rebecca Adams, 45.
Officials said Adams tested positive for alcohol during a breath sample.
She was arrested and charged with one count of driving under the influence and transported to the Pinellas County Jail.
No one was injured in the crash.
