Three people killed in Michigan pileup, as many as 40 cars involved

On Thursday as many as 40 vehicles were involved in a fatal Michigan pileup, officials said.

Police said weather likely contributed to the I-96 crash, which happened just outside of Detroit.

Three people died and 11 were taken to hospitals.

“We believe it to be weather related; it’s still under investigation. We believe it’s due to the slick conditions.
