Car roof, dash removed to rescue man in Sarasota County

VENICE, Fla. (WFLA) – A man was rescued after he was trapped in his vehicle during a Sarasota County crash Wednesday night.

The City of Venice fire department said their crews were sent to the accident at 998 North US 41 Bypass at 10 p.m.

Crews found a semi-conscious man trapped in his vehicle.

Firefighters used extrication equipment to cut and spread the roof and dash of the car off the driver.

The man was rescued from the vehicle and flown to Sarasota Memorial Hospital.

The driver of the other vehicle was injured in the crash.  There is currently no update on the victim’s condition.
