SPRING HILL, Fla. (WFLA) – Police have a person of interest in the Spring Hill Post Office burglary. The burglary occurred early Tuesday morning. The criminals made a mess of cards, gifts and letters.
On Thursday officials announced Jonathan Bizuk had been charged in another case. He’s charged with burglary conveyance, burglary of a structure and robbery. Bizuk is a person of interest in the Post Office case.
After the Post Office burglary, pizza driver Mike Foster found some of the stolen mail about 100 feet away. “I think they were opening their Christmas presents on the way up the alley. What do we got here?” Foster said as he surveyed the mail strewn about.
“I never went to law school or nothing, but looks like somebody’s check there,” he said, pointing to a money order that had been opened and tossed.
The mail sat, soaked by rain, for hours.
Foster thinks the crooks also broke into cars. “They haven’t been caught yet but I found a little bit of a trail. They left bread crumbs all the way up the alley. My car was robbed two days ago. Then another driver the day after that, broad daylight both times,” he said.
8 On Your Side called authorities hours after the break in to let them know about the mail a half block away.
The crooks got into the post office through the roof. Drone 8 video shows a fresh piece of plywood covering the spot where they dropped in.
Customers who use this Post Office worry valuable mail is gone. “There’s kids waiting on, ya know, Christmas gifts, ya know. It’s terrible what’s going on nowadays,” Ann Marie Castillo said.
