ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) – A 19-year-old man was killed Monday night in a crash near at the intersection of 66th St. and 30th Ave. North in St. Petersburg.

Police say James Redner-Gilmartin, 19, was traveling northbound on 66th Street North in the median lane behind another vehicle. The incident occurred at approximately 11:30 pm.

Police say just prior to the intersection, Redner-Gilmartin changed lanes into the middle lane and accelerated.

The other driver, Patricia Stevenson, did not see Redner-Gilmartin on his motorcycle, police say, and made a left turn into his path causing the motorcycle to strike the front of the Jeep.

Redner-Gilmartin, who was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead on the scene. Stevenson was transported to the hospital and released.

The roadway was closed for several hours as investigators collected evidence and spoke to witnesses.

No charges have been filed as the investigation continues.
