School bus driver cited after Auburndale crash sends 3 to hospital

AUBURNDALE, Fla. (WFLA) – Three high school-aged children were taken to a hospital after a school bus crash in Auburndale Tuesday morning.

The crash happened at 6:15 a.m. at the intersection of West Park and Pilaklikaha avenue as the bus was transporting students to Auburndale High School.

Officials said the bus left the lane of travel as it entered a curve in the road and struck a parked, unoccupied vehicle.

The three children were taken by ambulance to Winter Haven Hospital.

The driver, Timothy Brett Harper, 55, was cited for careless driving.
