WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (WFLA)– Construction crews in Winter Haven are working hard to finish the brand-new LEGOLAND Beach Retreat before it opens to the public next year, transforming the site into a toy wonderland.
“When you stay here, it is as if you are staying among the toys you played with at home as a child, whether you are 10-years-old, whether you are 30-years-old, or whether you are 50-years-old, this will remind you of all the time you spent playing with LEGO bricks at home,” said LEGOLAND’s David Brady.
This is the very first beach-themed retreat in the LEGOLAND family in North America and is located about a half-mile from the theme park entrance.
It’s designed with the same details and kid-centric features as its counterpart across the street: bright colors, bold design and of course, lots and lots of LEGO toys.
It will feature 83 beach-themed bungalows offering 166 separate rooms that are meant to look like a child made them.
“We are the first LEGOLAND resort in North America to add this style of accommodations, this village style layout,” said Brady.
While the resort is geared towards children, it will have lots for adults to love, like a pool bar, retail shop and buffet restaurant.
The resort will have its grand opening on April 7th, 2017.
Once it is open, it will bring 100 new jobs to Polk County. Construction began on the new resort less than a year ago.
