ORMOND BEACH, Fla. (AP) – Authorities say bones found near a central Florida subdivision could be those of a woman who was killed by her boyfriend five years ago.
Volusia County Sheriff’s investigators say the bones may be those of 31-year-old Mandy Ciehanoski. She went missing in February 2011 and her ex-boyfriend Michael Annicchiarico pleaded no contest to her murder in 2014. He was sentenced to life in prison.
But her body was never found.
The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports a jailhouse informant told investigators that Annicchiarico used saws to cut up his girlfriend’s body and buried it in the woods. Investigators are hoping they’ve finally found her remains.
The newspaper reports a man searching for his drone stumbled upon a human skull on Nov. 23. Investigators say they’re awaiting DNA results.
