TAMPA, FL (WFLA) — Fighting through crowds at a mega mall to score deals might sound fun to some shoppers, but many times, it’s hard to find something unique at those big box stores.
After you’ve had your Black Friday fix, small business owner Elizabeth Graham hopes you’ll head out to Forever Beautiful, her salon and wine spa that features cruelty-free and organic products.
“It’s not always about the almighty dollar, it’s about keeping the culture alive,” said Graham.
Forever Beautiful is a big part of Seminole Heights’ celebration of Holiday Shop Hop, a day when shoppers are invited to visit local stores there as a part of Small Business Saturday.
The Holiday Shop Hop includes 14 locally owned businesses, where you can pick up everything from vintage clothes to vintage wine.
“We are going to offer you an opportunity to buy gifts, support your local community, and in turn, we will support you as well,” said Graham.
According to the National Retail Federation, holiday shoppers are expected to shell out more than $655 billion in stores this year and as much as $117 billion online.
Store owners in Seminole Heights hope to get a slice of that cash by giving shoppers something different, an experience along with holiday gifts.
Small Business Saturday is November 26th. Shoppers visiting at least six participating businesses during the event, getting their “Shop Hop Passport” stamped will be eligible to win a local shopping spree.
Yelp recently announced the Top 20 Cities to Shop Local in 2016 and Tampa came in at #6.
