(WFLA) – Black Friday is just four days away. Millions of people are expected to wait in line, hoping to find great bargains.
But, some people have already made their lists and checked them twice – before Black Friday begins. “I already did buy a TV but it was last Friday. But, it was one of their pre-Black Friday specials,” Deenie Ellis said.
“We went to Target and several stores in mall. They had pre-Black Friday sales,” Michelle Richmond said.
Some shoppers say Black Friday is for the birds. “I think they maybe price markup and discount their markup,” Dustin Shapiro said. NerdWallet.com studied Black Friday pricing and says some stores play games with pricing to make sales look bigger than they are. The stores will list an “original price” or a “comp price” that doesn’t really exist.
Retailers say that’s not true. “You have TVs that are definitely cheaper than what you would normally pay for them,” Walmart Manager Aaron Powell said.
Rick Hilton has been camping out at Best Buy since Thursday. “Just the feeling of doing it. It’s more fun to be here and work for what you’re doing versus buying something online. It’s too easy to just buy online,” Hilton said.
Others plan to shop online and have no interest in shopping in stores during the holidays. “There’s no reason to. We would rather go when we can and spend Thanksgiving and the day after with family,” Richmond said.
Retailers expect plenty of shoppers. “We still expect very strong with everything with online specials and everything inside the store. We expect, still expect, very large excitement and everything around the event,” Powell added.
