Deputies: Sarasota Co couple brought kids, 11, 13, along on drug deal

SARASOTA, Fla. (WFLA) – A North Port couple faces drug and child neglect charges after deputies say they brought their two underage children with them when they went to make a drug deal.

Undercover detectives with the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office  say Rebecca Dickman, 42, reached out to them seeking to sell 50 Oxycodone pills. They say Rebecca Dickman’s adult son, Taylor VanGundy, 20, drove Rebecca Dickman, her estranged husband Richard Dickman, age 43,  and the Dickmans’ two children, ages 11 and 13, to the drug transaction last Wednesday afternoon.

Detectives say Rebecca Dickman sold them Oxycodone two times before the drug transaction on Wednesday.

Rebecca Dickman was charged with 2 counts of Sale of Oxycodone, Trafficking Oxycodone, and Child Neglect. She is in custody on $70,000 bond.

Richard Dickman was charged with Principle to Trafficking Oxycodone and Child Neglect. He is in custody on $20,000 bond.

Taylor VanGundy was charged with Principle to Trafficking Oxycodone and Principal to Sale of Oxycodone. He is in custody on $15,000 bond.

The sheriff’s office said the trio lives at the same address.
