ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) – A 65-year-old woman turned herself into police on Monday afternoon, saying she was the woman who robbed a bank earlier this month.
A St. Petersburg Police Department spokesperson said that Janice Ellinwood robbed the Bank of America located at 1135 62nd Ave. N.
Investigators say she robbed the bank shortly after noon on Nov. 7 by passing a note to the teller saying had a bomb.
Ellinwood was given an undisclosed amount of cash and left the bank.
She was seen getting into a tan or cream-colored minivan, possibly a Mazda, that had the license plate removed. The minivan left eastbound on 62nd Avenue North.
SPPD released surveillance photos from the bank after the robbery and asked for the public’s help identifying the bank robber.
