Winter Haven police investigating apparent murder of man in car

WINTER HAVEN, FL (WFLA) — Winter Haven police are investigating the murder of a man found dead in a car, after it crashed into an apartment building.murder2

Police first responded to 645 Ave I Northwest in Winter Haven around 1:30 a.m. Friday for reports of the crash. Police say the vehicle had rolled into the back of the apartment from an adjacent parking lot with what appeared to be a man passed out.

Police say that man, 39 year-old Jimmie Lee Rogers Jr., was unresponsive with what appeared to be a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police are investigating the scene as a homicide.

No suspects have been named.
