TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – The search is on in Hillsborough County for three suspects wanted in connection with an armed home invasion of 5 students from the University of South Florida.

Around 1:40 a.m. Tuesday morning, Hillsborough County officials said two suspects knocked on a door in the 2700 block of Bruce B Downs Blvd. Armed with handguns, the two suspects barged their way into the home after one of the victims opened the door.

Once inside, one of the suspects held the students at gunpoint while the other suspect “entered only one room and removed one of the victim’s wallets, which contained $300,” a news release stated.

Less than a minute later, the two suspects ran from the house on foot to a nearby parking lot, got in a black sedan driven by a third suspect and left the area.

When deputies arrived, they noticed a strong odor of marijuana in the apartment.

The two armed suspects are described as black males between 5 foot 8 inches and 5 foot 10 inches in height. One suspect was wearing dark sweatpants, gray shoes, black hoodie, black leather gloves, and black ski mask. He is described as having a large build.

The second suspect described as a medium build male was wearing dark jeans, black shoes, black USF hoodie, green USF skull cap, black gloves with white skeleton hand, Vendetta mask, and black back pack with yellow/green straps.

Police did not release an identity of the suspected getaway driver.

A $3,000 reward is being offered for anyone with information leading to the arrest of the suspects in this case. You can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS (8477).
