SARASOTA, Fla. (WFLA) – Anti-Trump protests are breaking out across the country and Saturday demonstrators gathered in Sarasota chanting “love trumps hate.”

“It’s very important that my kids know this country stands for love and not hate,” protester Amy Reid said.

Dozens held signs and talked about why they don’t like President-Elect Donald Trump. The march started at Five Points Park – even Jerry Springer showed up.

One Trump supporter decided to show compassion by giving out water to the demonstrators.

“At some point we need to unify because Trump is our president…if the pilot goes down our nation goes down,” Sadie Montanus said.

The protest was peaceful and authorities made sure it was safe for demonstrators to walk around.
