BRANDON, Fl. (WFLA) – A Brandon home was severely damaged by a fire and two people suffered minor injuries just before noon Saturday.

The incident occurred at 711 Sailfish Dr. according to a report issued by Hillsborough County Fire Rescue. When crews arrived on scene heavy smoke and flames could be seen emitting from the eves of the structure.

Unfortunately, their actions were slowed by two jet skis, a truck, a 24-foot jet boat and some used tires blocking the driveway. The homeowners, their neighbors and friends were frantically removing the items as firefighters arrived.

The items made it difficult for crews to access the fire, which spread quickly. The minor injuries occurred when a boat trailer collapsed. The watercraft and the trucks were not damaged.

It took approximately 45 minutes to get the blaze under control. A neighboring home and fence were slightly damaged.

The cause of the fire is not yet known as the investigation continues.
