LAND O’ LAKES, Fla. (WFLA) — Last Wednesday Lisa Eshkov complained after a woman stole her Hillary Clinton campaign sign out of her Land O’ Lakes yard.
The incident was captured on surveillance video, but the woman, who was riding in a golf cart, was never identified.
Eshkov decided to put up another campaign sign in her yard. She says that over the weekend the same woman, riding in the same golf cart, came back and stole the second sign.
“I mean it’s petty. It’s absolutely petty, and I cannot believe that I’m here again less than a week later doing the same story again,” Eshkov said.
The second incident was also captured on camera. “Same lady came back in her golf cart, in her underwear and barefoot, because it was so important to her to steal my Clinton sign again,” she said.
This time Eshkov has filed a police report. “Now I’m really angry, really angry. This is harassment,” she said. “Is this how you’re supposed to treat your neighbor?”
She has also put out a third sign in her yard. This time her support for Clinton is decorated on a piece of plywood.
Numerous voters who support former Secretary of State Clinton and Donald Trump have told News Channel 8 about stolen campaign signs.
Clearwater resident Steve Strope has had his Trump sign taken within the last several weeks. “I don’t lean on anybody. You can say what you want, but this is actually removing my right,” Strope said.
He finally installed cameras and caught the perpetrator. “There’s really no way to justify it,” said Strope.
Authorities say stealing a sign from someone’s yard is theft of property, a misdemeanor.
