ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) – Two Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office deputies were involved in a crash while assisting Senator Tim Kaine’s motorcade in St. Petersburg. No one was injured.

The crash happened around 9:15 p.m. on Saturday in the area of Interstate 375 from 8th Street North.

According to PCSO, a deputy didn’t see another deputy’s cruiser stopping in the road to allow the motorcade to pass and hit the back passenger side bumper of his cruiser and then struck a bus carrying press that was part of the motorcade. The bus continued on with the motorcade after the crash.

The bus and one of the deputies cruisers have minor damage, while the other cruiser was towed back to the Sheriff’s Office.

Neither speed nor alcohol/drug impairment appear to be factors in this crash, according to PCSO.
