Two suspects in custody after three Sarasota schools locked due to car burglary

SARASOTA, Fla. (WFLA) – The two suspects associated with three Sarasota schools placed on lockdown Friday morning are in custody.

A Sarasota Police Department spokesperson said the locked Sarasota Ford was burglarized at about 10 a.m. on Friday and a gun was stolen.

The Sarasota School Board placed Sarasota High School, Alta Vista Elementary and Suncoast School for Innovative Studies on lockdown while Sarasota police officers checked the area for two suspects.  All students were safe.

The lockdown was lifted around 11:15 a.m.

Police continue to investigate the vehicle burglary.
