CMA Awards: The list of winners

NASHVILLE (AP) – Maren Morris says she watched the Country Music Association Awards last year from a bar across the street. This year she won the CMA best new artist award. Eric Church won album of the year for “Mr. Misunderstood,” an album he surprise-released at the CMAs last year. Carrie Underwood says she became “suddenly stupid” upon winning female vocalist of the year because she got tongue-tied about what she wanted to say. Chris Stapleton won male vocalist. Garth Brooks won entertainer of the year and joked he was lucky to win and lucky to be able to take Trisha Yearwood home with him.

Here is the full list of winners at the Country Music Association Awards last night:

Entertainer of the Year – Garth Brooks.

Female vocalist of the year – Carrie Underwood.

Male vocalist of the year – Chris Stapleton.

Album of the Year – “Mr. Misunderstood,” Eric Church.

Song of the Year (songwriter’s award) – “Humble and Kind,” Lori McKenna (recorded by Tim McGraw).

Single of the Year – “Die a Happy Man,” Thomas Rhett.

Vocal group of the year – Little Big Town.

Vocal duo of the year – Brothers Osborne.

New artist of the year – Maren Morris.

Musical event of the Year – “Different for Girls,” Dierks Bentley featuring Elle King.

Music video of the Year – “Fire Away,” Chris Stapleton.

Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award – Dolly Parton.

Pinnacle Award – Kenny Chesney.
