TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – A Hillsborough County neighborhood is on edge after the body of a woman was found Tuesday afternoon. Investigators confirmed the woman was the victim of homicide.
News Channel 8 spoke to the family of 26-year-old Evelyn Woodham, who was found in the Palm River area. Her family members shared Woodham’s picture in the hopes of finding her killer.
Her body was found in a ditch near the intersection of 20th Avenue South and 58th Street South by a person riding by on horseback.
“There’s nothing,” Eric Bouchie said. “We don’t know nothing. Not one person around here knows what’s going on. That’s crazy. Is there somebody out here that’s going to come get him?”
Woodham had faced charges in Hillsborough County, including for prostitution.
Neighbors say, regardless of possible trouble, she didn’t deserve to die this way. “Nobody deserves that,” Bouchie said. “Nobody.”
Investigators have yet to release the exact cause of death but said Woodham suffered blunt force trauma to her upper body.
