Police respond to ‘armed robbery’ with toy gun at USF

TAMPA, FL (WFLA) — Police responded to the USF Tampa campus early Tuesday morning after a student allegedly used a toy gun to rob a pizza delivery man.

The incident occurred around 4 a.m. outside the Holly Residential Hall.

USF Police officers responded to the scene and found the victim who said a man approached him with what appeared to be a handgun inside of his waistband as he was requesting the pizza for free. The driver fled the area and called police.

A text message was sent to students alerting them about the police investigation.

Officers located the alleged prankster, 20-year-old Keion Cantrell, who is a student living in the Holly apartments, and recovered the toy gun.

Cantrell was arrested and charged with armed robbery. He was transported to Orient Road Jail.

No one was in danger at any point, police say.
