crash

TAMPA, FL (WFLA) — Tampa police have shut down Hillsborough Avenue between Nebraska Avenue and North 12th Street due to a multi-vehicle crash involving an overturned semi-truck that has spilled oil over the roadway.

The crash is blocking Hillsborough Avenue in both the eastbound and westbound directions.

Tampa police say 200 gallons of petroleum oil and asphalt have spilled from the truck. Cleanup crews are expected to be working on scene for several hours.

At least two other vehicles are involved in the crash.

Two people were seriously injured and have been transported to local hospitals.

News Channel 8 traffic reporter Leslee Lacey recommends taking MLK Blvd as an alternate.
