Tampa music teacher severely injured in crash to return to work

Sean Hankins and his girlfriend Caroline Sine were in a crash.

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA)—A Hillsborough County music teacher who was severely injured in a crash this summer is expected to return to work on Monday.

Sean Hankins and his girlfriend, Caroline Sine, were driving home from the movies on August 14 when Pinellas Park police say Brice MacLeod was impaired and hit the couple in the 4000 block of Park Boulevard.

Both Hankins and Sine were rushed to the hospital where Sine, a music teacher in Pinellas County, died from her injuries. Hankins suffered severe back and internal injuries and spent weeks in the hospital recovering.

Hankins is a former music teacher at both Mills and Shaw Elementary in Hillsborough County. He is now assigned to Miles and Hammond Elementary Schools, where he will return to work Monday.

The driver in this case, 36-year-old Brice MacLeod of St. Petersburg, is charged with DUI Manslaughter. As of Monday morning, he was still being held in the Pinellas County Jail.
