ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) – The U.S. Coast Guard rescued two men early Saturday morning after their boat began taking on water near Anna Maria Island.

Watch-standers from St. Petersburg received a call around 3:30 a.m. on Saturday. The boaters told Coast Guard their boat had engine trouble about 13 miles west of Anna Maria Island in Manatee County, and as a result began to flood.

Once the Coast Guard’s response crew arrived on scene they began assisting the boaters by pumping the water out of their boat.

The crew then attached the distressed boat for towing and brought it to Cortez, where no injuries were reported.
