TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. (WFLA) – Pinellas County Sheriff’s detectives investigate an attempted murder-suicide in unincorporated Tarpon Springs Friday morning.
The call about the incident at 2550 Richards Road came in after 10 a.m. Friday. A woman was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and a man was found deceased.
The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office later confirmed that the man and the woman were married. Robert W. Kamp, 92, is dead. He was located in the bathroom with a self-inflicted gunshot to his head. Edith Kamp, 86, was found with a gunshot to her head as well. She was taken to a hospital where she remains in a critical condition.
Both Edith and Robert suffered from long-term illnesses, their friends and family members were taking care of them. Detectives believe that Robert shot his wife and then took his own life. A suicide note was found in the house.
