(WFLA) – Items left at a Tampa Bay area memorial for a tow truck driver who was killed by a drunk driver appear to be missing.
Troy McGuire was hit and killed Oct. 9 in Hillsborough County. Troopers pulled over three vehicles for racing on the highway around 4 a.m. Sunday. While tow trucks on scene were loading the vehicles up, a Honda pickup going south on I-75 failed to move over for the responding vehicles, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
McGuire’s shirt and hat were placed at the side of the road to honor him, organizers of that procession said. Those items are now missing. Organizers believe they were stolen.
