(WFLA) – Tampa Bay Lightning were ranked number one overall for 2016 in the Ultimate Sports Standings by ESPN the Magazine.

The standings are compiled annually by ESPN and they ranked 122 teams in the four major leagues – The NHL, the NFL, the MLB and the NBA.

The rankings are based on the fan surveys that ask fans to rank the teams in 25 categories.

The Bolts were third in the rankings last year and were ranked 85th overall in 2009, the year before Jeff Vinik purchased the team, according to the team’s communications staff.

Congratulations, Bolts! And best of luck this season!
