ATLANTA, Ga. (WESH/AP) — Two additional people wanted on murder and human-trafficking charges have been arrested after authorities say a 14-year-old girl in Florida fatally overdosed on pills she was told would help her forget about having sex with men.
Orlando police said Karla Michelle Quiros Alsina, 20, and Arthur Lee Coleman, III, 26, were taken into custody in the Atlanta area.
The two suspects, along with Avorice Jeno Holman, 19, and Jose Ignacia Santiago Sotomayor, 22, face multiple charges, including first-degree murder, human trafficking of a child, prostitution, racketeering and transmission of child pornography.
Police said the four adults operated a sex-trafficking ring, and for eight days, sold a 14-year-old girl and her 15-year-old sister for sex while keeping the girls drugged on a mix of prescription and over-the-counter medicine. Police said they uncovered the ring when Quiros Alsina brought the 14-year-old girl to Orlando Regional Medical Center. The teen later died of a drug overdose from a combination of Xanax and the cold medicine dextromethorphan on Aug. 14. . Her older sister was rescued.
Jeno Holman and Santiago Sotomayor are already in the Orange County Jail.
