Troopers: Drunk driver hits marked FHP cruiser


PASCO COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) – A driver rear-ended a marked Florida Highway Patrol cruiser on a Pasco County roadway Sunday.

It happened shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday on State Road 54 near Vandine Road. Kyran Pittner, 25, of Wesley Chapel, was driving a 2002 Corvette on SR 54 in the center turn lane approaching Vandine Road. The FHP cruiser was parked in the turn lane with the lights on protecting the scene of a previous crash.

Pittner didn’t see the cruiser on time and struck it in the rear.

The cruiser was unoccupied.

Pittner was arrested and taken to the Pasco County jail on the charges of DUI, DUI Property Damage, Careless Driving, No Proof of Insurance, No Registration.
