Polk family displaced by fire


ELOISE, Fla. (WFLA) – A family of four is now homeless after a fire destroyed their house in Eloise Saturday.

It happened Saturday night at 9th Street and Snively in Eloise. Polk County Fire rescue responded to the reports of a fire just before 9 p.m.

When they arrived, about 50 percent of the wood-frame structure was on fire.

The family of four that lived there – a man, 25, a woman, 24, a 5-year-old boy and a 2-year-old girl – managed to get out. Nobody was injured.

The Red Cross assisted the family with shelter, clothes, food.

The cause of the fire is still unknown. Polk County Fire Rescue turned the scene over to the Division of State Fire Marshal to investigate whether the fire was an arson or accidental.
