Breaking Your Fitness Plateau

When it comes to weight loss, the old adage is true: if you always do what you’ve always done, you will always get what you’ve always got. If you’ve hit a plateau, change it up in the gym in order to keep challenging your body and to
keep making progress:

Change your exercises: If your cardio routine has been treadmill based, move over to the arch trainer or stairmaster. Or if you always use the leg press machine, try squats or standing lunges instead.

Change the type of workout you’re doing : If you’re a cardio killer, try adding at least one day of resistance training. If you rely on free weight resistance training, try a body weight based bootcamp or even a group exercise class! There are so many different ways to train at YouFit Health Clubs, this one should be easy!

Change your speed: If your cardio approach is slow and steady, add in some bursts of higher intensity which will increase your heart rate and also help you get through your workout quicker. Or, for free weight fans, incorporate super slow sets for an entirely new challenge.

If you need help with these tips, talk to a YouCoach Personal Trainer. A trainer can help you break through your plateau and keep momentum going into the holiday season. At Youfit Health Clubs, all new members receive a free personal training session.
