PORT RICHEY, Fla. (WFLA) – A teenager was hit by a vehicle and suffered life-threatening injuries when he ran into the path of an SUV Thursday morning in Port Richey.
Emergency crews responded to Congress Street and Ridge Road around 6:28 a.m.
Investigators with the Florida Highway Patrol say Gabrial Rodriguez, 13, of Port Richey ran into the path of an SUV driven by Rocco Chicarilli, 37.
Chicarilli was driving a Hyundai Tuscon westbound in the inside lane of Ridge Road near Congress Street when the teen ran from the north shoulder of the road into the path of the Tuscon.
Rodriguez was transported to Bayonet Point Hospital in critical condition. He is the second teenager to be hit by a vehicle in the last two days. The Florida Highway Patrol is searching for a hit-and-run driver who killed Ashley Perdomo, 17, as she was was walking southbound across Hillsborough Avenue on Wednesday night.
