PASCO COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) – A teen accused in a home invasion is now being charged as an adult. On Thursday Pasco County officials said the 14-year-old suspect will be charged as an adult instead of as a juvenile.

Detectives charged Alexander Perez with home invasion robbery with no weapon.

The incident happened in Holiday in late September. Officials say Perez hit an elderly victim and took his wallet and pants. The 81-year-old victim died later that day.

Detectives said Perez pushed the victim into his house through the front door and walked to the victim’s bedroom. He continued to batter him there, according to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation is ongoing. “We are still working closely with the Medical Examiner’s Office to determine if additional charges will be filed,” detectives said.
