CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) – Playing without injured quarterback and reigning league MVP Cam Newton, the Panthers are playing host to the Buccaneers Monday evening. Newton will miss the game as he is still recuperating from a concussion he suffered last Sunday.
Each team comes into the game with a record of 1-3 and coming off a loss. The Panthers were beaten by the Falcons 48-33 while the Bucs were stopped by the Broncos 27-7. In their last meeting, on Jan. 3, the Panthers won 38-10.
Derek Anderson will get the start for the Panthers and is facing second-year Tampa signal-caller Jameis Winston, who has had nine turnovers in the last three games. Anderson is 2-0 as the Panthers’ starter since 2011 with both wins coming against Tampa Bay.
