MIAMI (AP) – Nine people were injured following a crash between a Miami-Dade K-9 officer and a sedan.
Local news organizations report that all nine people, including five children, were taken to the hospital after Thursday night’s crash.
Police say the officer was on his way to assist West Miami police when the sedan tried to make a left turn and crashed with the officer.
Eight people were inside the sedan and were all transported to this hospital. The driver of the vehicle and a toddler were critically injured.
The officer was in stable condition. His K-9 partner was not injured.
Miami-Dade police spokeswoman Marjorie Eloi says the cause of the crash is still under investigation, but says weather may have played a role.
